Access to training hasn't kept pace with demand.
Nepal is home to some of the world's most capable mountain professionals, yet access to advanced training remains limited. For many guides, internationally recognised programmes are financially out of reach.
As global demand for skilled mountain professionals grows, experience alone is no longer enough.

The 14 Peaks Mountaineering Institute was founded to make world-class mountain education accessible to those with the talent and commitment to lead.
Selected participants receive fully funded, field-based training in technical climbing, rescue systems, leadership, and high-altitude medicine, led by experienced Himalayan professionals.

The Industry Challenge
High-altitude expedition tourism is growing faster than the industry can staff it with certified professionals. Being good on the mountain and being internationally certified are two different things - and for decades, the gap between them has been expensive to close on your own. Even those who do find a program often graduate with a certificate and nowhere to use it: most training in Nepal isn't connected to any expedition company that can actually put them to work.
